Made for life with our pets.

1. About Field Cottage Designs
Welcome to Field Cottage Designs, an independent, artist-led clothing and design studio based in West Sussex, England.
These Terms of Service govern your use of our website and purchases made through our online store.
Throughout these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Field Cottage Designs.
Our online store is powered by Shopify.
By placing an order with us, you agree to these Terms of Service, together with our Returns & Refunds Policy, Shipping & Delivery Policy and Privacy Policy, insofar as those terms are applicable and lawful.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or affects your statutory consumer rights.
2. Our Custom-Made Business Model
Every Field Cottage Designs garment is individually configured and produced to order.
We do not hold stocks of finished, pre-printed garments.
Our approach allows us to offer customers a wider choice of garment styles, fits, colours, sizes and artwork than would be practical if we operated a conventional stock-based retail model.
Depending on the collection, customers can select:
-
Garment type, style and fit.
-
Garment colour and size.
-
Artwork or individually commissioned design.
-
Artwork colour.
-
Additional personalisation, where available.
Once the customer has selected their configuration, we prepare an individual digital mock-up where artwork approval is required.
The customer reviews and approves their artwork before production begins.
We aim to produce garments thoughtfully, reducing unnecessary finished inventory and avoiding production without an identified customer.
3. Product Information and Configuration
We make every reasonable effort to ensure that product descriptions, images, prices, artwork examples and sizing information are accurate.
However, colours and garment appearances may vary slightly according to screen settings, lighting conditions and fabric characteristics.
Customers should consult the garment measurements provided on our product pages before ordering.
The options available for each product are those displayed at the time of purchase.
We may update our product range, garment availability, colours and artwork options from time to time.
Changes will not affect an accepted order unless agreed with the customer or otherwise permitted by law.
All goods supplied must comply with applicable consumer legislation.
4. Placing and Accepting Orders
When you place an order through our website, you make an offer to purchase the selected products.
We will acknowledge receipt of your order electronically.
An order becomes binding when we confirm acceptance, normally by email.
We reserve the right to decline an order for legitimate reasons, including garment unavailability, incorrect product information, inability to fulfil a requested specification or concerns about customer-supplied artwork.
If payment has already been taken and we cannot accept your order, we will issue a refund.
Customers are responsible for providing accurate contact details, delivery information, garment selections and personalisation instructions.
If additional information is required, we will contact you before proceeding.
5. Artwork Preparation and Approval
Where artwork approval is required, our studio prepares a digital mock-up showing the selected garment and artwork combination.
The mock-up is sent to the customer for review before production begins.
Customers are asked to check the following carefully:
-
Garment and artwork colours.
-
Artwork design and placement.
-
Names, dates and spelling.
-
Any additional personalisation.
-
Other details specific to their order.
Customers may request reasonable amendments before providing final approval.
Once the final artwork has been approved, the garment enters production.
Artwork approval confirms the agreed design specification but does not remove any applicable statutory cancellation rights or the customer's rights concerning faulty, incorrect or misdescribed goods.
6. Customer-Supplied Photographs and Artwork
Customers may submit photographs, illustrations, designs, wording or other materials for use in individually commissioned garments.
By submitting these materials, customers confirm that they own the necessary rights or have permission to authorise their use for the requested product.
Customers grant Field Cottage Designs a limited permission to reproduce, adapt and process these materials as reasonably necessary to prepare their artwork and fulfil their order.
Customers retain ownership of the original materials they submit and any intellectual property rights they hold in them.
We reserve the right to decline material where we reasonably believe its use would infringe intellectual property rights, breach privacy rights or otherwise be unlawful.
Customer-supplied photographs and commissioned artwork will not be used for public marketing or promotional purposes without appropriate permission.
7. Field Cottage Designs Intellectual Property
All original Field Cottage Designs illustrations, artwork, designs, branding, photography, written content and other creative materials are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing, copyright and other intellectual property rights in artwork created by Field Cottage Designs remain with the studio, subject to any underlying rights in customer-supplied materials.
Purchasing a garment does not transfer copyright in the artwork featured on it.
Customers may not reproduce, distribute or commercially exploit our artwork without prior written permission.
These provisions do not affect the customer's ownership of photographs or other materials submitted for an order.
8. Prices and Payment
Prices are displayed in pounds sterling unless otherwise indicated.
The total payable amount, including applicable taxes and delivery charges, will be shown before checkout is completed.
Payment is processed using the payment methods made available through our website.
We reserve the right to amend prices and promotional offers, but an accepted order will not be subject to an undisclosed price increase.
If an obvious pricing or product information error is identified, we will contact the customer promptly to explain the available options.
9. Shipping and Delivery
Every Field Cottage Designs garment is individually prepared to order.
Where artwork approval is required, we estimate delivery within 7–10 working days following final artwork sign-off.
This period includes:
-
Garment production.
-
Finishing and quality control.
-
Folding and packaging.
-
Dispatch and physical delivery.
Initial artwork preparation, customer review and requested amendments take place before this estimated delivery period begins.
For products that do not require artwork approval, the applicable delivery estimate will be provided during the ordering process.
Further information is available in our Shipping & Delivery Policy.
Orders Required for a Specific Date
If your order is required for a birthday, anniversary, special occasion, event or other specific date, please advise us in writing when placing your order.
Where available, customers may provide a requested delivery date through the product configuration options.
We will review requests and advise whether the required date can reasonably be accommodated.
A requested date is not automatically confirmed or guaranteed.
Where we can commit to a particular delivery date, we will confirm this in writing.
Your statutory rights concerning agreed delivery dates, delayed delivery and undelivered goods remain unaffected.
Responsibility for Delivery
Where we arrange delivery through a postal or courier service, responsibility for the goods generally remains with Field Cottage Designs until they come into the physical possession of the customer or a person nominated by the customer, subject to applicable legal exceptions.
We will provide appropriate assistance and remedies where an order is lost, damaged or not delivered as required by law.
10. Cancellations, Returns and Refunds
Our Returns & Refunds Policy explains the arrangements applicable to cancellations, change-of-mind returns, faulty goods, refunds and exchanges.
Under Regulation 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, goods made to a consumer's specifications or clearly personalised are exempt from the usual 14-day change-of-mind cancellation right.
This exception applies only where the relevant legal requirements are satisfied.
The fact that a garment is made to order, individually configured, digitally mocked up or approved by the customer does not automatically remove statutory cancellation rights.
Where the exception does not apply, customers retain their applicable statutory cancellation rights.
All customers retain their statutory rights if goods are faulty, misdescribed or otherwise do not conform to the contract.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts rights provided by the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
11. Our Commitment to Considered Production
Our business model is built around producing garments for identified customers rather than manufacturing finished stock in anticipation of demand.
This gives customers access to a wider range of garment styles, fits, colours, sizes and individually configured artwork.
Unlike conventional clothing retailers, we do not operate a resale outlet for returned garments.
Returns of individually produced products can therefore result in financial loss and unnecessary material waste.
We encourage customers to make considered purchasing decisions, review garment sizing information and carefully check their artwork before approval.
Our approach aims to avoid unnecessary finished inventory and unwanted production.
These considerations inform our studio practices but do not restrict statutory consumer rights.
12. Website Use
Customers agree to use our website lawfully and responsibly.
Users must not interfere with website security, upload malicious content, impersonate another person or use the website for unlawful purposes.
Our website content, artwork, product photographs and branding may not be copied or commercially exploited without appropriate permission.
We may take reasonable steps to protect our website, intellectual property and customers from unlawful or abusive activity.
13. Customer Feedback and Reviews
We welcome genuine customer feedback, photographs and reviews.
Customers submitting reviews or feedback confirm that they have the right to share the material and that it does not unlawfully infringe another person's rights.
Submitting feedback does not automatically grant Field Cottage Designs permission to use identifiable customer photographs or commissioned artwork in public advertising.
Where we wish to feature customer images, photographs or testimonials in marketing, we will obtain appropriate permission.
We may moderate or remove unlawful, abusive, misleading or otherwise inappropriate content, subject to applicable law.
14. Third-Party Services and Shopify
Our online store is powered by Shopify, which provides the technology supporting our website and checkout.
Purchases made through the Field Cottage Designs online store are transactions between the customer and Field Cottage Designs, not Shopify.
Certain functions, including payments, website services and delivery, may be provided by third-party service providers.
Relevant third-party terms may apply to their services.
Nothing in these arrangements removes any legal responsibility Field Cottage Designs owes its customers.
15. Privacy and Customer Information
We process customer information in accordance with our published Privacy Policy and applicable UK data protection legislation.
Information supplied during ordering, including customer photographs and artwork instructions, is used as necessary to prepare and fulfil orders and for other purposes described in our Privacy Policy.
Please refer to our Privacy Policy for further information about personal information, data processing and customer rights.
16. Liability and Statutory Rights
Field Cottage Designs is responsible for supplying goods that comply with applicable consumer law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability for:
-
Death or personal injury caused by negligence.
-
Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
-
Breach of statutory consumer rights.
-
Any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts customers' statutory rights concerning product quality, fitness for purpose, description, delivery or conformity with the contract.
We are not responsible for losses arising solely from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service to reflect changes in our business, website, products or legal requirements.
The current version will be made available on our website.
Changes will not retrospectively remove statutory rights or alter the agreed terms of an existing customer order without a lawful basis.
18. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Customers retain any mandatory consumer protections and rights to bring legal proceedings that apply to them under relevant law.
